Tuesday night was pumping at Rcaffe. We have so many people dancing in the tiny cafe these days that we are really challenged to learn to dance in a small space. This is great practise in adapting our dance according to circumstances. It is also more intimate and fun, good practise as well for doing giros!! Here is a pic of us at Rcaffe on Tuesday night.
On 23rd July, Libertango and iKhaya Lodge hosted the Cape Town Tango Ensemble for a wonderful evening of live tango music. The ensemble has recently been nominated for a South African Music Award. Dancers especially enjoyed dancing to their new track 'Adios'. Thanks to Stanislav Anguelov, Charles Lazar, Albert Combrink and Jacek Domagala.
Wow, what a wonderful week of tango in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Jose made his second visit to South Africa from 13 - 20 July. He delivered a range of workshops on themes well developed by himself and his partner, Virginia Cutillo: Split Weight steps, spiral movements, rhythmic structures for the tango and unusual ganchos and boleos. As usual, tangueros were impressed by Jose's fascinating insights into movement, reflecting his deep study of technique and creative brilliance that he nad Virginia have put into developing their style. Hasta la proxima Jose!
