On Friday night we had our last Milonga Africana of 2011. Alberto and Silvia Otero presented some beautiful tango pieces for guitar by Troilo and Piazolla. The Milonga Africana will continue in 2012

At this special year-end milonga we will be privledged to hear a 20 minute performance by the classical guitarist Alberto Otero who will play music by Astor Piazolla and Anibal Troilo. Alberto was born in Buenos Aires Argentina into a talented musical family. He started playing guitar at a very young age with his father who was an established guitarist and introduced him to the tango circle. Studied classical guitar at the music conservatory in Buenos Aires and completed them at the age of 15. Played with various tango groups and singers. Move to folklore where he participated in a number of competitions and live festivals.
He now lives in Cape Town and is resuming his passion for his native music.
