Saturday night at Milonga 10

Last night I managed to take myself to my first Milonga since arriving. I love Milonga 10 because it is small and intimate with a relatively young crowd. So many familiar faces and people to catch up with. With the humidity being so high here at the moment, it didnt take long for me to be cutomarily red in the face and dripping with sweat. How embarrassing! Nobody else seems to have this problem! La Tanguera Roja.

The evening started with a class on Walz with Jose Halfon and Virginia Cutillo,  my favorite teachers. It is amazing to see Vicky in top form again after having her twins and having so little sleep. As usual , their class was fantastic. I have yet to find teachers that teach so systematically ,with such depth and clarity. So many epiphanies! On Thursday I went back to Escuela Argentina de Tango for the first time in many years. It was a place that frequented in 2008. The lesson with the well-known and beautful teacher was fun. But  it really struck me that many good dancers cannot teach well, that teaching itself is a gift which is as important as being a good dancer.

Dancing at Milonga 10, I enjoyed feeling so many different leads, from experienced to relatively beginners. Nice connections, all of them. Walking towards my bus stop at 3 am I was delighted to find a heladeria open and packed with people. The lemon sorbet was melting in my hands as I ate it...... mmmmmmm

Here is a video of the lesson summary with Jose and Vicky.... and of MIlonga 10
